Hitachi Data Systems launches ‘storage virtualisation for dummies’ book

KUALA LUMPUR, 20 JANUARY 2010 - Storage firm Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) has launched a new book titled ‘Storage Virtualisation For Dummies’ to help people better understand storage virtualisation.

HDS Malaysia managing director Johnson Khoo said the book, which was launched in September last year, would help to clear common misconceptions surrounding storage virtualisation.

“The book, published by Wiley Publishing, is a convenient and informative tool that highlights the benefits of the technology and how to gather maximum mileage out of its implementation for enterprises,” said Khoo.

Khoo added that the six chapters highlight case studies that deal with issues such as choosing the right storage solution, calculating the benefits and savings to be made, planning, implementing and managing a storage virtualisation strategy, as well as how to optimise performance and improve storage utilisation.

“Storage Virtualisation for Dummies is co-authored by HDS pre-sales and solutions, Australia and New Zealand, Adrian De Luca, and HDS technical director of storage management and tiered storage solutions, Asia Pacific, Mandar Bhide, who bring more than 30 years of combined expertise and experience to the book, in the fields of storage management, virtualisation and data protection,” he said, adding that the book would be disseminated among Hitachi Data Systems customers.
